Tyler Lockett is on his second watch list for an award given to the best player in college football, this time it’s the Walter Camp Award. Lockett has already been named a candidate for the Maxwell (college player of the year), Biletnikoff (best wide receiver) and Paul Hornung (most versatile player) awards. He’s also a preseason All-Big 12 selection at both wide receiver and kick returner according to the league’s media. K-State has replaced outgoing hitting coach Mike Clement with Andy Sawyers, who will have the title of Associate Head Coach/Offensive Coordinator. Sawyers spent two seasons as an assistant on Hill’s staff in 2009 and 2010 when K-State made their first two NCAA Regional appearances in school history. The Wildcats led the Big 12 in batting average and stolen bases in each of those seasons. K-State was picked to finish third in the Big 12, behind Oklahoma and Baylor, by the media on Thursday. The Wildcats beat out Texas by a single point, with 377 points overall, in the poll. It’s the highest K-State has been picked since the Big 12 started round robin play in 2011. Last season the Wildcats finished fifth in the league after being picked to finish sixth by the conference media. Oklahoma racked up 47 of the 56 first place votes to finish first in the poll. KMAN has confirmed that KSU hitting coach Mike Clement has accepted the job as hitting coach at Ole Miss. K-State picked up it’s seventh commitment for the 2015 football recruiting class yesterday in the form of Carl Junction, Missouri linebacker Chase Johnston. Johnston tweeted his pledge yesterday night: Johnston doesn’t have a star rating yet on rivals.com, but is listed at 6-4 and 220 pounds with a 4.57 40-yard dash time. He is the first known commitment for K-State since Bishop Carrol’s Denzel Goolsby tweeted his commitment two weeks ago.

B.J. Finney, Cody Whitehair and Ryan Mueller are the latest Wildcats to be added to award watch lists in a week that’s been full of honors for K-State. Finney and Whitehair are each on the Outland Trophy watch list, given to the nation’s best interior defensive lineman. Mueller is a candidate for the most outstanding defensive player of the year in college football after being named to the Bronko Nagurski Award watch list. K-State athletics director John Currie announced Wednesday that K-State’s athletic budget will increase by $5.65 million to a total of $65.7 million for the 2015 fiscal year. This is up 49 percent from the 2010 budget of $44.1 million. Currie also noted in his latest letter to K-State fans that the 2014 fiscal year was the fifth straight year with a balanced budget and a surplus. K-State will get a projected $26 million in Big 12/NCAA revenue shares, but the biggest revenue source for the 2015 budget is still $31.16 million in ticket purchases and fan contributions. 58 percent of…

K-State’s Jack Karapetyan has received a medical hardship waiver for the 2013-14 season, his first in Manhattan, after playing just twenty minutes in six games. The school and the Big 12 announced the news in a press release Monday. Karapetyan signed with K-State in July 2013 after a year at prep school and battled a foot injury during his freshman season. He will still have four years of eligibility after the medical hardship. To qualify for a medical hardship, an athlete must suffer a season ending injury that occurs in the first half of the season. The Tigers are coming off of a 12-2 season that included an appearance in the BCS national championship game against Florida State.
