The K-State football hot streak for recruiting continues, specifically in the Lone Star State, with their most recent addition in Miles Toedecki, a three-star quarterback out of Austin, Texas. Toedecki, playing at Vendegrift High School, finished his junior season with some ridiculous numbers, including 48 touchdowns through the air to just 7 interceptions and over 3,000 yards passing, leading VHS to a 6A State Championship with a 15-1 record on the season. By Rose Gruenbacher WESTMORELAND — Dana Chandler received two life sentences on Tuesday with no parole eligibility for 25 years, in yet another drawn-out court proceeding. Shawnee County judge Cheryl Rios ordered Chandler’s terms be served consecutively, meaning parole eligibility actually won’t come until Chandler serves 50 years. Her prior incarceration of about 10 years, resulting from her initial conviction of the crimes, will be credited to the new sentence. By Beth Day The Pottawatomie County Commission did not show a lot of interest Monday in restricting fireworks sales, usage. County Counselor Bernard Irvin, in his weekly update, informed the commission of the new state law concerning the sale of fireworks. “The Kansas legislature passed a new law that amends fireworks sales,” he said. He explained certain retailers would be allowed to sell year around, while seasonal sales have been extended to June 20 to July 7. Previously, sales were allowed June 27 through July 5. Manhattan city officials have announced they are soliciting bids from businesses and organizations for naming rights to the new athletic facilities under construction at CiCo Park. The new complex will feature four new youth baseball and softball fields in the northeast portion of the park, with upgraded amenities. There are five different tiers for naming rights. Level A sponsorships start at $1,500 and would include naming rights on fence signage, foul poles, streaming ads and more.
