Manhattan city commissioners on Tuesday will consider a common consumption area (CCA) ordinance that would allow consumption of alcohol from licensed establishments within a particular boundary. They’re having a special legislative meeting in place of the scheduled work session. The proposal follows a Sept. 24 work session involving city, Aggieville and Downtown business association officials, as well as the Riley County Police Department and Kansas Alcohol Beverage Control. Kansas 67th District Rep. Angel Roeser, Manhattan, was one of only four Republicans who voted Wednesday against a proposed amendment to the state constitution to make Supreme Court judges run for office in partisan elections. Roeser voted no, according to public records, joining 36 Democrats and three other Republicans. Eighty-four Republicans voted in favor, including Megan Steele, who also represents part of Manhattan. (K-State Athletics) – Senior David N’Guessan was named to the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) All-Central Region Second Team on Tuesday morning (March 18) as the organization announced its All-District honors. The honors are voted on by NABC-member coaches across Division I. It was the first NABC award for N’Guessan, who was named to the coaches’ All-Big 12 honorable mention team on March 9.
