OLATHE — A Kansas man who yelled “Get out of my country!” before killing one Indian immigrant and wounding another in a suburban Kansas City bar has pleaded guilty to three federal hate-crime charges. Fifty-three-year-old Adam Purinton entered the plea Monday in federal court. He previously pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in state court in the February 2017 death of 32-year-old Srinivas Kuchibhotla. TOPEKA — Kansas is moving to lay off dozens of Revenue Department employees after entering into no-bid contracts with a company faulted for the 2013 botched rollout of the federal health care website. The Wichita Eagle reports that more than 50 employees will lose their jobs as the agency transitions IT services to CGI Technologies. CGI helped develop healthcare.gov, a website marked by technical problems and poor performance. The Revenue Department signed at least two contracts in 2017 and 2018 with CGI. Riley County Commissioners looked over the signed contract drafts by Pottawatomie County for ambulance services during their meeting on Thursday. County Counselor Clancy Holeman led the presentation on the final draft of the agreement that was signed by the Pottawatomie County commission. He said the conditions requested by the Riley County commissioners included an acceptable contract to the commissioners by June 1, payments for the outstanding invoices from November, and this arrangement to continue at most for only 2 years after the date of execution.
