A former Riley County Police Department officer named in civil rape suit denies the allegations. Aaron Wright, the former officer named in the suit filed in a federal court in Kansas City, Kan., on June 2, blasted the allegations in a statement he emailed to KMAN Monday afternoon. According to the suit, a former K-State student says she was sexually assaulted by Wright after he’d given her a ride home following a birthday party while he was off duty on the night of June 3, 2016. Lane striping began on Fort Riley Boulevard Monday. The work started at the intersection of Fort Riley Boulevard and U.S. 24 and will end at Westwood. The first phase will be removal of existing paint and then striping the center and dashed lines. This portion may take 3 or more days. Motorists should expect lane shifts and delays, but there will be no lane closures. A second phase will follow that includes removal and re-striping of crosswalks and stop bars at intersections along the route. Motorists are asked to obey all posted traffic control and use caution in the area.

Lawyer Davis, 21, of Manhattan was arrested by RCPD detectives in the 200 block of E. 9th St. in Junction City, on June 9, 2017 at approximately 9:40 PM. Davis was arrested for aggravated robbery. Updated noon Monday: A rural Olsburg man died in a Pottawatomie County motorcycle accident Sunday afternoon.  Christopher Browne, 60, has been identified as the driver of that motorcycle, which crashed in the area of Carnahan and Otter Creek Roads at about 3:45 p.m. Browne was pronounced dead at the scene. The accident remains under investigation, however, no other vehicles are believed to be involved. FORT RILEY — The oldest division in the United States Army recognized its 100th birthday at a Victory with Honors Ceremony on post Thursday morning. Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach, who is helping lead President Donald Trump’s commission on election fraud, says he is running for governor, according to the Associated Press. The Republican was announcing his 2018 bid Thursday in Lenexa.
