Hal Lucas, 51, of Ogden, Kansas, was arrested while at the Riley County Police Department on February 8, 2018 at approximately 3:10 PM. Lucas was arrested on a Riley County District Court warrant for possession with the intent to distribute a controlled substance within 1000 ft. of a school property, and three counts of distribute methamphetamine. Lucas’ total bond was set at $20,000.00 causing him to remain confined at the time of this report.

The Riley County Police Department announced Friday morning that director Brad Schoen will retire after 36 years serving the citizens of Riley County. Schoen began his career as a patrol officer on January 1, 1983, before being appointed director on November 17, 2007. Since the RCPD was established in 1974, he is the only person to be promoted through the ranks from a patrol officer to the director of the department. “I like the work. WICHITA — A Wichita area man charged with the rape of a 4-year-old girl at a YMCA has now been accused of sexually assaulting a 3-year-old girl at the same location. The Wichita Eagle reports 21-year-old gaston was arrested Wednesday on suspicion of aggravated indecent liberties with a child. The arrest comes one day after he was released from jail. Gaston was arrested last week and charged with rape in a reported Jan. 29 sexual assault at the Downtown YMCA. Police say they were investigating the incident when they identified a second victim in an assault that occurred Jan. 24.…
Officers filed a report for burglary and criminal damage to property in the 2500 block of Bellerive Dr. in Manhattan on February 7, 2018 at approximately 2:10 PM. LAWRENCE — A chemistry professor living in Kansas who faced imminent deportation to Bangladesh has been granted a temporary stay. Lawyers representing 55-year-old Syed Ahmed Jamal announced Thursday that a judge issued the temporary stay. Jamal, who currently teaches at Park University in Missouri, was arrested Jan. 24 at his home in Lawrence, Kansas. He arrived legally in the U.S. in 1987 but after pursuing a doctorate he overstayed his visa. He and his Bangladeshi wife have three American citizen children. Since his visa expired, he has been allowed to stay in the U.S. and report regularly to immigration authorities.…
