A man charged for domestic battery, aggravated assault and criminal discharge of a firearm into an occupied dwelling plead no contest in Pottawatomie Court Tuesday. He also plead no contest to the aggravated endangering of a child. Pottawatomie County Attorney Sherri Schuck told KMAN Jarvis Clark, 26, is set for sentencing on July 21 at 9 a.m. He was advised of his duty to register pursuant to the Offender Registration Act. A Manhattan man charged with criminal possession of a firearm by a felon entered a no contest plea Monday, and sentencing has been set for August first. Richard Smith, 62, received a lot of attention after his December arrest, in which Tyler Nelson, 21, was shot and killed. The Geary County Sheriff’s Office is looking into a cold case that will require the public’s assistance. On April 2, 1989 skeletal remains were discovered in Geary County on a sandbar of the Smoky Hill River near Grandview Plaza, just south of Interstate 70. Following the examination of the remains by a forensic anthropologist, it was determined that the remains belong to a white male who was between 36 and 49-years-old at the time of death. A Manhattan man and former USD 378 employee facing four counts of unlawful sexual relations with a female student is set to have his first appearance in Riley County District Court Wednesday afternoon at 1:30. Zachary Burton, 38, was arrested June 7. Little information has been released in the case. An affidavit requested by Manhattan Broadcasting was sealed by the court. The court alleged the disclosure of the affidavit has the potential of jeopardizing the well-being of the victim in the case. Officers with the Riley County Police Department arrested Johnathon Shuck, 33, of Manhattan while in the 100 block of Courthouse Plaza on June 20, 2016 at approximately 2:05 PM. Shuck was arrested on the offenses of making false information and theft of property or services. These offenses were listed on a warrant from Riley County District Court and were associated with a bond of $8,000. At the time of this report Shuck was confined at the Riley County Jail.

KANSAS CITY, Mo. — The man accused of killing Kansas City, Kansas, police detective Brad Lancaster is out of the hospital. Curtis Ayers was taken into custody by Jackson County, Missouri, authorities after being taken from the hospital Monday. He had been hospitalized since he was shot by Kansas City, Missouri, police several hours after Lancaster was fatally shot May 9 near the Kansas Speedway. The Kansas City Star reports that Ayers was wearing Lancaster’s handcuffs when he was escorted from the hospital. He is charged in Wyandotte County, Kansas, with capital murder in Lancaster’s death.
