On May 10, 2016 at approximately 3:25 PM police arrested Julie Kenfield, 44, of Leonardville, Kansas while in the 100 block of Courthouse Plaza in Manhattan. Officers arrested Kenfield on a warrant for the offense of failure to appear which originated in Ness County, Kansas. This warrant had “no bond” and caused Kenfield to be confined at the Riley County Jail at the time of this report. Updated 10 a.m. 5/11/2016 Blue Township Fire Department responded to a rollover accident at approximately 10:38 p.m. on Wednesday evening at the intersection of Highway 13 and Carnahan Creek Road in Pottawatomie County. Initial reports indicate there was an entrapment, and the Pottawatomie County Sheriff Greg Riat confirmed with KMAN that the three passengers of the vehicle were all taken to hospitals, with one passenger being life-flighted.

Members of the community voiced their desires before city commissioner’s Tuesday night, as they discussed moving ahead with framework for a hybrid inspection option. The option would consist of external inspections that can trigger interior expectations should violations go unresolved. TOPEKA — Two Kansas Supreme Court justices have questioned changes legislators made in the state’s education funding system and whether they’re fair to poor public school districts. Justices Lee Johnson and Dan Biles pressed state Solicitor General Stephen McAllister during a hearing Tuesday on changes approved earlier this year that left aid for most of the state’s 286 school districts unchanged. The changes prevented any district from losing money. Biles and Johnson questioned whether preventing any district from losing funds was fair to poor districts that were being shorted on their aid.
