A Westmoreland man was arrested for attempted 2nd degree murder and aggravated battery during the early Sunday morning hours, according to a press release from the Pottowatomie County Sheriff’s Department. The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office received a 911 call on Sunday at approximately 2:30 a.m. that someone had been shot at 110 South 4th St., in Westmoreland. A second 911 call was received and the caller reported that two individuals had been shot. Sheriff’s deputies located two individuals outside the residence, suffering from non-life threatening gunshot wounds. CHICAGO (AP)– Lorenzo Cain was hoping someone on his team would hit a home run to end the marathon game. He wound up taking matters into his own hands. Cain homered in the 13th inning and the Kansas City Royals outlasted the Chicago White Sox 7-6 Saturday in a game that took nearly five hours. DODGE CITY, Kan. (AP) — A former staffer for U.S. Rep. Tim Huelskamp has been sentenced to 12 months in prison in a Kansas child- sex case. Matthew Pennell, a Manhattan High graduate and one-time candidate for the Riley County USD 378 school board was sentenced Friday in Ford County after admitting to two of the 17 child sexual exploitation counts he was charged with in March.
