The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office continues to search for individuals charged with illegal drug violations from an incident on March 26th. At about 7:16 a.m. that day Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office with the assistance of the Wamego Police Department executed a search warrant in a hotel room at a Wamego Motel, on Highway 24. Deputies seized unspecified quantities of methamphetamine, marijuana, as well as drug paraphernalia and scales. The occupants of the room had left prior to the search warrant however warrants have been issued for the suspects. TOPEKA — The Kansas Department of Transportation has announced delays for two categories of road projects scheduled for 2017 and 2018. State Budget Director, Shawn Sullivan outlined the changes Wednesday. Previously-programmed modernization and expansion projects are being delayed until remaining State Highway Fund revenues allow for them or new money becomes available. 2017 delays will include ten projects with an estimated construction cost of $273.5 million; 2018 will see 15 projects delayed with a cost of $279.2 million. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Authorities have booked into jail a 28-year-old man who has been identified as a person of interest in a sexually battery at a Wichita high school. The Wichita Eagle reports that the man is being held on suspicion of multiple charges, including sexual battery and criminal discharge of a firearm. Jail records show the man was booked into jail Wednesday and is being held on a $65,000 bond. MCPHERSON, Kan. (AP) A Wichita businessman has established a $1 million endowment that will provide a new music series and a student scholarship at McPherson College. The Salina Journal reports that Steve Clark is using the endowment at the central Kansas school to honor his mother, Fern Lingenfelter. The music series will include two annual music performance events with special emphasis on piano. It will be followed by the creation of the Fern Lingenfelter Scholarship in Music, an annual merit-based scholarship for one or more McPherson students majoring in music. LEAVENWORTH, Kan. (AP) An interactive video game has been developed to train Army command teams on how to respond to accusations of sexual harassment and sexual assault. ELITE SHARP CTT was introduced for Army use earlier this month. Army members can download the game for free. The Leavenworth Times reports the game was developed with help from the Games for Training Program at Fort Leavenworth. Maj. Officers with the Riley County Police Department arrested Jesus Martinez-Rubio, 23, of Park City, Kansas on April 20, 2016 at approximately 12:00 PM. Martinez-Rubio was arrested on a warrant for the offense of failure to appear with an original offense of driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol. The Kansas Department of Health and Environment (KDHE) has issued a boil water advisory for the University Park Water District public water supply located in Riley County. KDHE officials issued the advisory because of a loss of pressure. Failure to maintain adequate pressure may result in a loss of chlorine residuals and bacterial contamination. The advisory took effect on April 20 and will remain in effect until conditions which place the system at risk of contamination are deemed by KDHE officials to be adequately resolved. The Manhattan-Ogden Board of Education met on Wednesday night in the midst of some negative news. Earlier that afternoon the Governor’s office announced a revenue shortfall totalling $290 million dollars. TOPEKA — A new fiscal forecast for Kansas has slashed the state’s projected tax collections by $348 million for the current and next fiscal years. The new forecast drafted Wednesday would leave the state with budget shortfalls totaling more than $290 million. The figures were included in documents prepared by legislative researchers ahead of a Wednesday evening Statehouse news conference and obtained by The Associated Press from another source. The forecasters reduced the projection for total tax collections for the current fiscal year by $177 million, or 2.9 percent, to about $5.86 billion. They also cut the estimate for the…
