It was a day of celebration for the Flint Hills Regional Council, with its fifth anniversary recognized on Thursday. Newly elected Board Chair Robert Boyd of Riley County told the group gathered about reasons to celebrate, including five years of molding an organization into a cooperative to each of the members’  mutual benefits and five years of expanding possibilities. MANHATTAN — On June 23-24, 150 key leaders met in Manhattan, Kansas, to discuss the future research activities and operations of the National Bio and Agro-defense Facility, or NBAF. “Pioneering Partnerships with NBAF: A summit with livestock producers and the animal health industry about science, synergy and security” was an industry-focused, invitation-only summit. Officers with the Riley County Police Department arrested a Manhattan man on an out of district warrant for assault. Scott Barnett, 41, was taken into custody at approximately 10:50 PM Thursday while in the 2100 block of Fort Riley Boulevard. Barnett was arrested on a warrant for domestic related assault with extradition. The warrant originated in Morgan County, Missouri and carried a bond of $50,000. ### A Manhattan man faces drug-related charges following his arrest Thursday evening. Since it began in 1996, the Country Stampede music festival has seen annual rises in attendance and excitement.  Bringing the best and brightest stars to the Little Apple on a yearly basis means that, for many, their first Stampede will definitely not be their last.
