Officers with the Riley County Police Department filed a report and began an investigation into attempted aggravated burglary and criminal damage to property, on Monday. Police responded to the call in the 800 block of Moro street, and found that Rachel Rankin, 20, of Manhattan as well as Alliance Property Management had become the victims of these crimes. No items were removed, however, $20.00 worth of damage was sustained to a window screen after an unknown white male in a blue shirt, blue baseball cap, and khaki shorts attempted to make entry into the occupied building. MILWAUKEE (AP)– Lorenzo Cain hit a two-run homer, and normally lights-out reliever Greg Holland struggled in the ninth before the Kansas City Royals held off the Milwaukee Brewers for an 8-5 win Monday night. The Royals won in manager Ned Yost’s first regular season game back in Milwaukee since being fired by the Brewers late in the 2008 campaign. But the victory was more difficult than expected after the Royals entered the bottom of the ninth with an 8-2 lead. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) The family of a Wichita man killed by police wants $5 million from the city. Authorities have said that police shot and killed 26-year-old Icarus Randolph on July 4 when he came toward officers with a knife and after a Taser failed to stop him. District Attorney Marc Bennett announced Friday that no charges will be filed against police in Randolph’s death. The Wichita Eagle reports Randolph’s family filed the claim for $5 million on June 2. It’s been a topic for some time–but Riley County Law Enforcement Agency Law Board members seem to be closer to making a decision on changes to general health and physical fitness requirements for Riley County Police officers.
