KANSAS CITY, Mo.(AP)– Expecting some rain, the Kansas City Royals tried to rush their way through five innings to make it an official game, and came away with a shortened win. Alex Gordon hit a two-run homer, Edinson Volquez pitched six solid innings and the Royals beat the St. Louis Cardinals 3-2 Saturday night in a game called in the sixth inning due to rain. The 1st inaugural Bill Snyder Half Marathon and 5K race opened to a large crowd on Saturday morning. Over 1,500 individuals registered for the race. Runners participating in the half marathon were taken by bus to Bill Snyder Highway, where the race began. The course then went through Poyntz, City Park, Aggieville, K-State campus, and concluded on the east side of Bill Snyder Family Stadium. Participants received a free t-shirt and fruit from HyVee. They also had the chance to enjoy live music, vendors and bouncy houses for children. The first three runners in each age category received a medal.…

Late Thursday KMAN reported the story of a 16-year old Manhattan boy who had been missing since March. Now not only has the youth been located but now he is in trouble with the law after his arrest in connection with a series of vehicle burglaries and other offenses. In March, Riley County Police had been informed that Kyle Nevels had ran away from his residence and had yet to return home after two days.
