Dunkin’ Donuts is coming to the Manhattan area–and in a big way, according to a news release issued by the company, based in Canton, Massachusetts. Three restaurants are to open in Manhattan and the surrounding areas–with franchisees listed as Alison Leiszler-Bridges and Samantha Liby. The duo’s first restaurant is to open before the end of 2014,with the remainder by 2017. Altogether, 14 new restaurants are slated for development in Kansas–with nine in Wichita, and two in Topeka. Dunkin’ Donuts was founded in 1950 and is known for its coffee and baked goods–there are nearly 11,000 restaurants in 33 countries worldwide.

Health Homes are a program of the Kansas Medicaid program which provides coordinated physical and behavioral health care for eligible KanCare consumers. Health Connect will provide comprehensive and intense care coordination for people with complex chronic conditions, like diabetes, asthma, or serious mental illness. While no injuries were involved, an aircraft accident was reported at the Manhattan Regional Airport Monday. The Kansas Highway Patrol reports a Mooney Aircraft was on approach to the airport, when the pilot neglected to deploy landing gear. The pilot has been identified as Douglas Ward, 56, of Iowa. Again, he was not injured. The accident was reported shortly before 1:30 Monday afternoon
EMPORIA, Kan. (AP) An eastern Kansas man has died after being hit by a tree branch while putting out a small fire caused by lightning. Radio station KVOE reports the accident happened in rural Emporia around 9:30 a.m. Monday. Lyon County Sheriff Jeff Cope says 49-year-old Gary Fuller and 86-year-old Kenny Fuller were both hit by a large branch that fell from about 30 feet up. Gary Fuller suffered critical injuries and was pronounced dead at Newman Regional Hospital. The sheriff says lightning had set fire to grass around the tree.
