Shugart Lecture on Thursday, April 16, which featured director of Food and Nutrition Services for the Fairfax County, Va. public schools Penny McConnell as the guest speaker. Riley County Police are investigating an armed robbery complaint, reported early Thursday morning in the 900 block of Village Drive. The complaint was made at the Riley County Police Department on Seth Child at 12:50 a.m.. This robbery reportedly occurred approximately one hour prior to police arriving on scene and filing the report. No injuries were listed. Upon further investigation into the matter officers found that  Ryan Weber, 21, and  Tyler Harris, 20, had become the victims of a robbery which involved four unknown black males, with some armed with handguns. A Marysville man has been sentenced to one year in jail for driving his vehicle into two Manhattan businesses, including Staples, last December. Jason Butler is to serve nine months and will be on parole after his release. As a condition of parole, Butler will have to comply with treatment and pay restitution in excess of $43,000. Butler was found guilty in Pottawatomie County Court last month of driving under the influence, with seven other charges in the case dismissed. Police in Riley County arrested two people on drug-related charges Wednesday afternoon.  Christopher Cuchy, 22, of Manhattan was taken into custody for failure to appear, motion to revoke probation, possession of methamphetamine and possession of marijuana as well as possession of drug paraphernalia. Cuchy was arrested while in the 500 block of Moro Street with bond set at $34,000. Also arrested was Kimberly Brazzle, 27, of Manhattan for possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia. Brazzle’s bond is $4,000. MINNEAPOLIS (AP)– The Kansas City Royals were rolling through the start of the season, still undefeated when they took the field Wednesday at Minnesota. Well, Kyle Gibson hadn’t lost either, at least not against the Royals in his young career. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) A judge will decide whether to grant bail to a Topeka man charged as an accomplice in an alleged Fort Riley bombing plot. Alexander Blair will appear for a detention hearing Thursday. Blair’s attorney, Christopher Joseph, has argued in a court filing that Blair is not a flight risk because he has little money and no car. Blair allegedly gave money to John T. Eric Reid, who currently serves as the Superintendent of Ellsworth/Kanopolis/Genesco USD 327 in Ellsworth, was officially announced as the new Assistant Superintendent for Manhattan/Ogden USD 383 after the school board approved the item unanimously during Wednesday night’s board meeting. Reid earned his bachelor’s degree in secondary education from Kansas State University and his master’s degree in educational administration from Fort Hays State University.  He began his career as a social studies teacher in Cocker, Missouri and Fowler, Kansas.  After this, he returned to his hometown of Ellsworth, where he has been serving in his current position since 2011.
