The Royals tied a club record with 24 consecutive scoreless innings, which was set June 9-12, 1976. The board covered old business over budget planning for the 2015 and 2016 school year, discussing budget steering committee recommendations presented by Lew Faust, Larry Doll and Robert Seymour. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) The House has advanced a bill that would give Kansas’ secretary of state the power to prosecute election fraud. The chamber gave the measure first-round approval Wednesday. Several lawmakers questioned the necessity of the bill, given the relatively few recorded instances of election fraud. Others expressed concern that the Kansas Secretary of State Kris Kobach might bring charges when prosecutors believed people did not intentionally break the law. Manhattan’s Parks and Recreation Department will delay opening City Park Pool and Northview Pool until Monday due to health and comfort reasons. The delay is based on current water temperatures and the predicted forecast over Memorial Weekend. CiCo Pool is on track to open on Saturday, May 30th. This pool will be utilized for lifeguard training that has been delayed due to poor weather conditions. The Wamego City Commission approves the Columbian Theatre maintenance agreement. At Tuesday’s meeting, City Manager Merl Page reviewed the presentation from the last meeting where he asked Architect Bruce McMillan for a cost estimate if the work was done in phases. McMillan brought the numbers back, and they reflected a 11 ½ per cent increase to perform the required maintenance in phases.
