Due to large amounts of rainfall, the water level in Tuttle Creek Lake is expected to rise substantially over the coming weekend, according to a press release issued by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Thursday afternoon. The increase in storm waters from the rivers flowing into Tuttle Creek Lake will likely result in a 15 to 20 foot rise in the lake by early next week. The Junction City Police Department and the United States Marshals Service are asking for the public’s assistance in locating and apprehending a fugitive wanted by the United States Marshal’s Service. The Marshal’s Service believes the wanted subject, Heidi Lynn Webster, has ties to the Manhattan/Junction City area and that persons may have information on her whereabouts. A former private in the U.S. Army stationed at Fort Riley has been indicted on charges of stealing his fellow soldiers’ identities, U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom reported yesterday (Thursday). Todd M. Newbrough was charged on Wednesday with four counts of wire fraud, four counts of bank fraud, four counts of aggravated identity theft and one count of computer fraud. The crimes are alleged to have occurred at various times from 2011 to 2015 at Fort Riley. The indictment alleges Newbrough used personal identifying information of fellow soldiers to obtain lines of credit and credit cards in their names. He got…
A demolition permit application has been received at Manhattan’s Code Services Office for the old Sears wing at the Manhattan Town Center. Still no official word on what will be located there, but Town Center General Manager Allen Raynor tells KMAN negotiations are pending and near completion. KMAN has been working on this story since early in the year, but negotiations have apparently been taking some time. The Sears at the Town Center has been closed since last fall.
