In a press release on Saturday night, the Kansas State University Police Department reported that a suspicious object found on Saturday afternoon on the northeast entrance ramp to Bramlage Coliseum was not a threat. As part of safety procedures, members of the Kansas Highway Patrol canine bomb team — who are a regular part of the university’s pregame safety checks — examined the contents and requested a further inspection by X-ray. Junction City Police reported a shooting occurring at 3:51 am at the KINGZ motorcycle club on Grant Avenue in Junction City. According to the report 42-year-old Jackie Oliver was found on scene with two gunshot wounds, and 24-year-old Derrick Dixon was admitted to Geary County Community Hospital with a gunshot wound from the same incident. Oliver, and Dixon were stabilized at Geary County Community Hospital.  Police are investigating, and no arrests have been made at this time.

Peyton Little scored 19 points and Kaylon Williams added 12 as Oklahoma defeated Kansas State 66-58 in Big 12 Women’s basketball action Saturday at Lloyd Noble Center in Norman. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) A bill before the Kansas House would prohibit employees of universities and state colleges from using their official job titles when they contribute to newspaper opinion pieces. The Topeka Capital-Journal reports the bill currently applies only to opinion pieces and letters to the editor in newspapers, not to other forms of media.
