A Conway Springs man is in trouble with the law following his arrest for failing to appear in Riley County District Court. 27-year-old Trevor Smith was arrested just after 4:30 p.m. Monday afternoon on a Riley County District Court warrant for failing to appear. The charge comes from original charge for distributing narcotics, marijuana, cannabinoids and doing so in a controlled facility. Springs bond is set at $16,000 and he remains confined at the time of this report. True Colors, a nonprofit that supports LBGTQ+ youth, is in trouble, its leaders say. Katie Baker, executive director of True Colors Flint Hills, said in an announcement last week that the organization has seen declining donations over the past year, and unless something changes will have to close its doors next month. She said True Colors needs $25,000 to make it to the end of the year. That amount will allow the group to plan for a more “sustainable” operation, she said. Law enforcement are investigating alleged criminal destruction of property in the 800 block of Fremont Street in Manhattan. Just after 4p.m. August 24, a 39-year-old man and a 51-year-old woman reported a renter of their property did a substantial amount of damage to the property. The subject is a 19-year-old man. Total loss associated with this report is approximately $1,700.
