For the second straight game, the Indians place nine in the scorers book led by five in double figures. The Kansas Department of Labor released their jobs report today. According to the Kansas Department of Labor, November’s seasonally adjusted rate was 4.3%, which is down from October’s 4.4%, and lower than November 2013’s 5% overall unemployment rate. Kansas gained 7,200 seasonally adjusted private sector jobs, which is an increase of .6% since last year, and 75,00 non-farm jobs, which is a .5% increase. Kansas lost 4,400 seasonally adjusted private sector jobs and 4,100 seasonally adjusted total non-farm jobs since October, making a .3% decline. Non-seasonally adjusted jobs show that Kansas gained 7,400 private sector jobs, and 7,600 non-farm jobs since last year.…

On Friday afternoon Judge William Malcolm continued the preliminary hearing of a man accused of a number of charges including aggravated kidnapping, and robbery. Earlier Friday two other defendants waived their preliminary hearings. Ortegas Tune, 26, of Manhattan was the first to waive his preliminary hearing. Manhattan City Manager Ron R. Fehr received the Buford M. Watson Jr. Award for Excellence in Public Management for his outstanding work and career in Manhattan. The award is the highest award presented by the Kansas Association of City/County Management (KACM). Fehr began his career in Manhattan in 1982 as the park and forestry supervisor and rose through the ranks of the Parks and Recreation Department to the City Manager’s Office when he became assistant city manager in 1992.
