After four years of service, Riley County Commissioner, Dave Lewis served his final day on the board on Thursday. Incoming commissioner, Ben Wilson will officially be sworn into office on the following Monday morning. Lewis shared words of gratitude for all of the county department heads, and some of the county staff members. He acknowledged each person individually and presented them with a medal. Several department heads teared up, and Lewis shed tears during a couple of the recognitions. A Westmoreland man who faces burglary and theft charges has waived his preliminary hearing in Pottawatomie County Court and is set for a February arraignment. Nathan Woodyard’s arraignment is February 19th. Woodyard’s residential and non-residential burglary counts and felony and misdemeanor theft charges relate to a May 11th incident. Woodyard was also arrested that day by Riley County police after being involved in a motor vehicle collison near the 28-hundred block of Pillsbury Drive. On Thursday morning the city of Manhattan had their 2015 state legislative breakfast. It was a chance for city staff, and officials, to meet with state legislators face to face to tackle some of the issues coming up in the year. Budget was at the forefront of the talks as state legislators are working to recover $279,000,000 in lost revenues before the July 1st deadline. This has some city officials concerned on where the cuts will come from. Riley County Police arrested a Manhattan man on two warrants involving a motion to revoke probation and failure to appear in court. William Correia, 31, was taken into custody Wednesday at approximately 4:45 PM. Correia was arrested in the 600 block of Thurston Street. His bond was set at $6,500. ### Officers with the Riley County Police Department are investigating a report of a battery and mistreatment of a dependent adult involving two unknown subjects and a victim identified as Daryl Vannatter, 32, of Manhattan. Manhattan High senior offensive tackle Colton Wagner was selected to play for the West squad in the Kansas Shrine Bowl this July. Wagner was a first team all-league pick this season by the league’s coaches and helped lead the Indians to a share of their sixth straight league title in 2014.
