 It was a day of good-byes at Monday’s Riley County Law Board meeting, with law board member Rich Jankovich, who also is a City Commissioner, indicating it was time to allow others to serve. Riley County Commissioners approved the public building commission (PBC) during their last commission meeting, but officially signed the resolution on Monday. After unanimously approving to sign the resolution, the commissioners provided comments on the matter. Commissioner, Ron Wells started out by mentioning how disappointed he is in the Manhattan Free Press.  He also stated he was disappointed in some of the area residents who never changed their negative views about the PBC.  He re-affirmed-the PBC is a financial tool that doesn’t ever have to be used if it’s not needed. Updated 11:15 a.m. Monday: Details have been released regarding a fatal pedestrian related accident in Pottawatomie County KMAN first told you about early  Monday morning. Sheriff Greg Riat indicates early Sunday morning at about 12:37 a.m. the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Dispatch received a call of a pedestrian walking on highway 24, in the roadway near Dempsey Rd. The Wildcats opened the game in style with Justin Edwards taking a Foster pass in mid-air and throwing down a dunk giving the impression that K-State would win this game going away. LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP) A Lawrence kennel fire that left at least three dogs dead has city officials reviewing fire and pet services codes. More than 20 dogs were evacuated after the fire broke out Nov. 29 at Christal K-9. The business was unusually busy because of the Thanksgiving holiday. The Lawrence Journal-World  obtained a city memorandum that shows the building did not have fire alarms or sprinklers. Those safety features are not required in any kennels in Kansas. WICHITA, Kan. (AP) Thirty-seven registered criminal offenders are enrolled or employed at the six state universities in Kansas. The Wichita Eagle  reports that federal law requires universities to keep a list of the registered offenders at their school and make the information available. But it’s not clear how many people know about the lists. There are 12 offenders at Wichita State University, 10 at Kansas State University, seven at Pittsburg State University, five at the University of Kansas, two at Emporia State University and one at Fort Hays State. Riley County police arrested K-State defensive tackle Terrell Clinkscales early Sunday morning for failure to appear and witness/victim intimidation. He was arrested at 4:01 a.m. Sunday morning at 614 Highland Ridge Drive, and his bond was set at $129. Clinkscales has played in seven games this year for K-State and recorded two tackles.
