Wichita native Ashia Woods led three Wildcats in double figures with 13 points while Breanna Lewis scored 12 points and Haley Texada added 10. The Manhattan High girls are 2-0 after rolling to a 72-22 win at Topeka West on Friday. The Indians came out sharp and built a 22-4 lead after the first quarter that saw them shoot over 60 percent from the floor. Pesky defense helped force 17 first half turnovers, and the lead was 43-7 at the half. For the game Manhattan forced 25 turnovers and shot 54 percent from the floor to get the win. Caroline Ballard led the way with 19 points, while Kennedy Wilson and Savannah Roberts both cracked double figures as well with ten points a piece.…
Students from Rosemary Anderson High School are led away following a shooting at the school, in Portland, Ore., Friday Dec., 12, 2014. A shooter wounded two boys and a girl outside the U.S. high school Friday in what is believed to be a gang-related attack, police said.
An RV sits underwater from the flooded Russian River Friday, Dec. 12, 2014, in Guerneville, Calif. While the sun rose Friday in a dry San Francisco sky, the storm’s affects lingered in Northern California. In Sonoma County, the Russian River was approaching flood stage and was expected to crest several feet above it by early afternoon. Officials advised residents of about 300 homes to evacuate low-lying areas.

Shortly after 3pm Thursday, the Manhattan Fire Department was dispatched to 1105 Ratone Street Apartment 11 for a report of a structure fire. , Upon arrival, personnel found a three story apartment building with light smoke showing from the back of the building. Firefighters entered the smoke filled apartment and found an extinguished fire in the bathroom. The fire started in a trash can and spread to the cabinets. The heat from the fire caused a water line to fail and extinguished the fire. The fire was handled by the first two units, who worked on scene for over one…
