On Tuesday night the Manhattan City Commission passed the first reading for the 2015 budget.  It includes a 2.1% increase from the 2014 budget coming in at a total of 134,125,392. A major upset was scored Tuesday with challenger Ben Wilson defeating incumbent Dave Lewis in the race for Riley County Commissioner in District one. With all Riley County Precincts reporting Wilson garnered 615 votes for 52 percent of the vote to Lewis’ 549 votes or 47 percent. Over in Pottawatomie County, the race was still too close to call as of late Tuesday night between incumbent Commissioner Gary Yenzer and challenger Dee McKee as the lead was changing hands frequently. It is still very early in the day, but Riley County Clerk Rich Vargo says the early turn out is a bit lower than previous showings.  According to Vargo early reports in from polling stations put voter turn out around 3%. However, Vargo states advanced voting numbers were up, and there is still a lot of time to make it into the polling stations. Polls close at 7 p.m., and full coverage of the primary results will be available here on 1350 KMAN.
