A fire was reported early Wednesday morning at Wamego Self Storage on East Military Road. Wamego Fire Chief Phil Stultz tells KMAN the point of origin has been determined as a storage bay five bays in from tne north end, which got stuck in the ceiling area before spreading to other storage bays. Stultz adds the fire has been determined NOT to be arson, adding there’s not an electrical or ignition source through there, and no evidence of foul play. An almost two hour wait on jury proceedings was needed by Judge David Stutzman and counsels as they wrangled out a legal issue before open court resumed again on Wednesday morning. Christopher Bates is facing 6 counts of sexual assault on two victims in the summer of 2013. According to prosecutors the assaults occurred from mid-summer until Victim A reported the incidents to their mother on 12, August 2013. The City of Wamego received a good grade for its annual audit. At Tuesday’s City Commission meeting, Reese & Novelly’s Carol McCullough went over the 2013 Audit, and said there were no significant reportable corrections and gave the City a ‘clean report’. According to McCullough, there is one area accountants look at, and it’s internal control. She commended City Manager Merl Page and the City staff for having such good internal controls in place. DENVER — Ned Yost never has a bad birthday, but a win helps make the occasion much more special. Omar Infante had three doubles and drove in four runs to help the streaking Kansas City Royals beat the Colorado Rockies 7-4 on Tuesday night. It also brought a smile to Yost, who turned 60.
