Joshue Serrano, 22, of Manhattan was arrested in the 1000 block of S. Seth Child Road on April 25, 2024, at approximately 1:20 PM. Serrano was arrested on a Riley County District Court warrant for rape- sexual intercourse with a mentally deficient victim and aggravated sexual battery of a mentally deficient victim. Total bond was set at $25,000. Serrano was not confined at the time of this report.

Beloved local tiger Hakim recently underwent groundbreaking arthritis treatment at Sunset Zoo. The 17-year-old tiger was treated at the Kansas State University College of Veterinary Medicine by Dr. Trenton Shrader who is the assistant Professor of Exotic Pet, Wildlife, and Zoological Medicine and works closely with Sunset Zoo head keeper Caitlin Kenney. The 250 pound cat has osteoarthritis in both of his elbows, which caused him a significant amount of pain and mobility issues. Officers report a a vehicle traversed a parking lot, striking a curb and a sign before heading downhill through some bushed before coming to a stop.
