Penny Marie Webster, 59, was arrested in the 1100 block of Garden Way Sunday at 10 p.m. and is being held at the Riley County Jail on a bond of $125,000. Webster was booked on an another charge of distributing an unknown quantity of narcotics, in addition to the distribution causing death charge, and was still being held in the RCJ as of Monday.

In a social media post, President Joe Biden announced that he is dropping his reelection bid against Donald Trump. The announcement throws more turmoil into the election just months before voters go to the polls. Kansas Rep Tracey Mann responded to Biden’s decision saying… “I am confident that the November elections will give Republicans success up and down the ballot. A fire broke out earlier this morning at Ackert Hall early on Monday on the campus of Kansas State University. Manhattan Fire Department crews responded to the structure fire and were able to extinguish it within ten minutes. Claflin Road was shut down for nearly an hour but ultimately reopened with no issues. The fire was believed to have been started by a light fixture. Crews reported no injuries or fatalities but the building did experience quite a bit of smoke. Details continue to emerge with this story and more information will be released later today.

The Office of the Kansas State Treasurer has recently revealed that a Kansas resident was the victim of a scam by a government imposter. The scammer contacted the victim via phone call and claimed to be a representative of the Kansas State Treasurer’s office. The victim was told that he had recently won a sizable sum of money from the lottery. The scammer then informed the victim that collecting his lottery winnings would require a payment. The victim was directed to wire funds as well as load money onto a gift card and once payment was received, the scammer indicated…
