(AP) — Kansas’ Democratic governor on Friday vetoed Republican legislation that would have provided a financial boost to anti-abortion pregnancy centers and prevented officials fighting outbreaks of contagious diseases from prohibiting public gatherings or ordering infected people to isolate themselves. The two measures were part of a wave of conservative policies passed by GOP-controlled state legislatures this year, including ones in Kansas rolling back transgender rights and establishing new restrictions on abortion providers. Riley County Police are investigating after a car, stolen from Manhattan, was found totaled in Georgia. Officers filed a theft report Thursday morning at Enterprise Leasing, after the company told police an unknown man stole a BMW X2, valued at approximately $39,000. The car was found Thursday afternoon by authorities in Lawrenceville, Georgia, a suburban community northeast of Atlanta. Kansas State University has named Chris Culbertson dean of the College of Arts and Sciences, effective May 14. Culbertson has served as interim dean for the past year as well as professor of chemistry and associate dean of research and graduate studies in the college.
