After a dramatic comeback from a five-run deficit last week, K-State baseball will look to sweep the season series from Wichita State on Tuesday night at Eck Stadium in Wichita.  The Cats trailed the Shockers 6-1 going into the bottom of the 8th, but tied the score in the inning and won it in the 9th when Wichita State catcher Tyler Baker was charged with a passed ball.  K-State coach Brad Hill says the Cats need to be more prepared against Wichita State. Brittany Chambers continues to put herself in exclusive company at K-State as she was selected by the LA Sparks in the second round of the WNBA Draft on Monday night.  Chambers was the 22nd overall selection, and becomes the seventh Wildcat all-time to be drafted into the WNBA.  She’ll join a Sparks team that went 24-10 last season, and advanced to the Western Conference Finals.  In her K-State career, Chambers finished as one of just four players at Big 12 schools to register 2,000 career points, 850 career rebounds and 350 career assists. LAWRENCE, Kan. (AP)   Kansas has suspended senior tight end Nick Sizemore for the first three games of the season.  Coach Charlie Weis announced the punishment Monday.  He said it was for an unspecified violation of team rules.  Sizemore, a 6-foot, 245-pound player form Lititz, Pa., played in 10 games last season and caught two passes.

Massachusetts State Police investigating the marathon bombing searched an apartment just outside Boston, in Revere. Officers were seen leaving with bags full of material. There’s no word of any suspects or motive in the attack.

Public hearings took up some time at Monday’s Pottawatomie County Commission meeting, but so did bids. The commission opened bids for the Whispering Meadows Unit 2 and after some review from Leu Lowery, Public Works Director, the commission will decide upon the recommendation. The opening for temporary notes were on the agenda as well, and the commission approved the low bid from St. Mary’s State Bank with an interest rate of .48375%. The commission also had updates from a couple of departments including from Dustin Trego, Management Assistant of Operations, Christ Trudo, with Emergency Management, Bruce Brazzle, Fire Supervisor, and Lois Schlegel, county appraiser.…

Owner of the Dara’s Fast Lane businesses in Manhattan, Chris Darrah, came before the Riley County Commission during their Monday meeting.  Darrah recently spoke with numerous local retailers, and wanted to voice his concerns about high commercial property taxes in Manhattan. Darrah, along with other business owners, including Radio Shack Owner- Frank Beer, are considering closing the doors on their businesses in the future if the commercial property tax trend continues.
