The Wamego Police Department is working with the Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Office on an investigation of two residential aggravated burglaries in Pottawatomie County… The burglaries occurred on JC Rogers Drive and on Country Club Circle on the west side of Wamego. Both homes were occupied at the time they were entered on Thursday morning. In both cases the suspect was confronted by occupants and fled the area on foot. The Manhattan Municipal Band will be performing on July 10th at the Larry Norvell Band Shell starting at 7:30pm. At the first meeting in July, the Manhattan Ogden Board of Education elects a new president and vice president to serve a one year term. At their July 5 meeting, the board did just that. For board presdient, Dave Colburn was nominated and unanimously selected. For board vice president, Curt Herrman was nominated and also unanimously selected. KANSAS CITY, Kan. (AP) A third member of a Kansas City, Kan., police unit has been sentenced to eight months in federal prison for stealing electronics from houses during searches. U.S. Attorney Barry Grissom says 34-year-old Dustin Sillings also has to serve one year of supervised release for violating a federal civil rights law. He was sentenced Thursday. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) Kansas officials say the death of a 43-year-old man in northwest Kansas was heat-related, making it the state’s third such fatality this year. The state Department of Health and Environment confirmed Thursday the latest heat-related death was reported last week but declined to provide additional details to protect the victim’s privacy. The state’s other two heat-related deaths occurred in May. Health department officials also said hospitals have voluntarily reported about 40 heat-related injuries and illnesses since the beginning of June.
