Officers listed a 72-year-old female as the victim when it was reported that her credit card was stolen and then used without her permission at several businesses in town. Riley County emergency coordinator Laurie Harrison says the recent state-wide tornado drill went off without a hitch. Harrison says being prepared is the key to staying safe during severe weather. She also says to check local radio when sirens are going off. The city of Manhattan has 25 outdoor emergency sirens, and the rest of Riley County has 11. Severe weather preparedness week continues through Friday.
The Flint Hills Discovery Center will be hosting the 9th annual Meet the Makers art event March 12 through 15. Each day a local creator, crafter, or maker will present live demonstrations of their work from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. in the first-floor atrium of the Discovery Center. Auston Korszeniewski, 26, of Manhattan, was arrested while in the 1000 block of South Seth Child Road in Manhattan on March 6, 2024, at approximately 3:10 PM. Korszeniewski was arrested on a Riley County District Court warrant for probation violation x 3. The original charges in this matter are identity theft x 2, unlawful possession of a controlled substance x 2, flee and elude x 2, possession of drug paraphernalia, and theft.
