It’s election season, and residents of Pottawatomie County can expect to see a new, but familiar, question on this year’s ballot. Earlier this month, County Commissioners voted to include a quarter-percent sales tax to fund road and bridge improvements. Commissioner Greg Riat joined KMAN’s In Focus Tuesday, where he explained there are various projects around the county that this tax would help support. Riat also wants residents to understand that this increase would be temporary. Officers responded to the report of an injury crash near the intersection of Tuttle Creek and Fort Riley Boulevards on July 26, 2023, around 10:15 p.m. After arriving on scene, officers found a 1976 Ford truck driven by Zhang Guorong, 51, had turned south onto Fort Riley Blvd. and was hit by a northbound Harley-Davidson motorcycle driven by Kyle Field, 31, of Manhattan during the turn. Field was found to be intoxicated and arrested for driving under the influence.
