By Emma Loura/Manhattan Mercury Construction of a new cattle facility at K-State will begin next year. The Kansas Board of Regents on Wednesday approved the timeline for the Beef Cattle Research Center facility to replace the feedlot on College Avenue that’s no longer in operation. Formerly known as the Feedlot project, the previously approved facility will consist of a feedlot for teaching and research, a metabolism research barn and a feed mill. A Manhattan man was arrested on Friday afternoon on multiple charges, including vehicular burglary and theft of property or services. Landon Beace, 22, of Manhattan, was taken into custody at the Riley County Jail at approximately 3:30 p.m. The charges also include computer crimes and unlawful firearm possession. Back 9 Development at Tuesday’s Manhattan City Commission meeting will propose a second change to a project that called for a mixed-use building at the northwest corner of 12th and Laramie streets with a hotel and parking garage building across the street on the northeast corner. RCPD officers filed a report of an injury accident at the corner of Leavenworth Street and N. 4th Street on Thursday evening just prior to 7 p.m. Officers are reporting that Lonny Scott, 50, of Manhattan, was crossing the street in his wheelchair when it struck ice and tipped over. Antonio Casillas-Ventura, 24, of Fort Riley, was approaching the intersection at the same time and subsequently collided with Scott.
