Manhattan City Commissioners considered a request Tuesday to contribute funding for the ELEVATE FUND, a local revolving loan program that provides financial support to community entrepreneurs in a more accessible and equitable way. The ELEVATE FUND operates through partnership and collaboration between the nonprofit group SPARK, the Manhattan Area Chamber of Commerce and multiple other organizations. Riley County, Kan. – Christy Woolsey, 39, of Manhattan was arrested on March 20, 2023, around 1:15 p.m. for her Riley County District Court warrant for probation violation. This warrant stems from an original arrest of Woolsey on February 15, 2023, for possession of meth. Woolsey remains confined in the Riley County Jail with a total bond of $25,000.
Riley County says some fees associated with environmental health permits, land use permits and licensing processes will increase this month to help offset county costs, though the county maintains it will continue to cover the bulk of costs for all Planning & Development and Environmental Health Services. The Riley County Police Department provided an update during the county’s Law Board meeting on Monday in regard to the activity during this year’s Fake Patty’s Day celebration. RCPD Captain Greg Steere indicated to the board that overall activity numbers were low when compared to years past (report can be viewed below).
