A 25-year-old Manhattan man was arrested Saturday at the Sandstone Apartments, in north Manhattan. According to Sunday’s RCPD arrest report, Jacob Robb was charged with single counts of aggravated domestic battery, domestic battery and criminal restraint. Bond was set at $15,000, causing him to remain in the Riley County Jail. Further details are pending from RCPD.

The City of Manhattan says a pair of construction projects are beginning today, which will create some traffic adjustments in town. Phase two of a project to remove and replace the intersection of College Heights Road and Denison Ave. will see reconstruction of the west half of the intersection. Work will continue for approximately three weeks, depending on weather. It will include water line and storm sewer replacement. Northbound traffic will remain on Denison. Southbound traffic will follow a marked detour route on Claflin to Sunset to Hunting Ave. Officials will also begin construction on Little Moro between Anderson Ave.…

Cynthia Ann Worthing, 74, of Wamego, Kansas, passed away on Friday (June 30, 2023) at her home in Wamego. Born June 30, 1949 in Beloit, Kansas, Cynthia was the daughter of Marvin Glen and Marieta Magdalene (Adams)  Eberhart. She was raised in Jewell, Kansas and graduated with her degree from Vernons School of Cosmetology. She moved to Wamego in 1979.  She married Clifford Ray “CR” Worthing on January 1, 1981 at the Wamego United Methodist Church. He preceded her in death on April 3, 2020. Progress on the new mural at Lee Elementary School is moving along nicely. Layne Stafford, a freelance artist with nearly 20 years of experience painting murals, was selected by the district to tackle the project. He said, currently, the mural is on track for completion before the 2023-2024 school year begins. This isn’t Stafford’s first time working with the district. He taught elementary art for a few years and even spent time as a student teacher inside the building he now paints. Officers filed a report for aggravated battery in the Riley County Jail on July 6th, around 6 p.m. This was in response to a report that 22 year old Shawn Samuelson hit a 25 year old victim in the head, and 32 year old Travell Hairston and 45 year old Jarman Morgan punched a 28 year old victim several times. Both victims were transported to Via Christi. Samuelson, Hairston and Morgan were arrested for aggravated battery and remain confined.

Officers conducted a search warrant in the 1200 block of Yuma St. in Manhattan on June 6, 2023, around 3:15 p.m. As a result of the search warrant, we arrested Daneille Sullivan, 32, and Christina Hurley, 42, both of Manhattan. Both were arrested for possession of meth and possession of drug paraphernalia. Hurley remains confined with a total bond of $4,000, Sullivan was issued a total bond of $2,000 and is no longer confined at the time of this report.
