With the start of the official window for players to announce their plans for transferring to other schools, three Kansas State players were among the hundreds that made statements Monday, officially ending their careers at the school. Friday evening brought bitter cold wind to Manhattan, but hundreds turned out anyway for the 21st Annual Spirit of the Holidays Lighted Parade. The route started at 3rd and Poyntz, turned onto 11th, then ended on Fremont at City Park. The nearly 70 entries decorated their vehicles and walking members in lights. USD 383 was represented throughout the parade. Manhattan High School’s Marching Band played many holiday songs while glide-stepping in formation.  A school bus decked out in lights was filled with bus drivers throwing candy to the crowd. TOPEKA, Kan. (AP) — The Kansas Bureau of Investigation has identified the man who was shot and killed by a Topeka police officer during a fight over a weapon. Dylan Walstrom, 28, of Topeka, died Thursday after he was shot by an officer investigating a car that was blocking an alley in central Topeka, the KBI said. Walstrom, who was alone in the car, refused several commands from the officer, the KBI said. When he eventually got out of the vehicle, Walstrom was holding a handgun, according to investigators.
