New TCU coach Sonny Dykes saw a drastic shift in Big 12 offenses during his first stint in the conference in the early 2000s. Now that he’s come back, he sees the times are a-changin’ still. “Man, it’s changed. … When I got in the league, it was a two-back power league. And by time I left the league, it was everybody being Air Raid,” said Dykes, a Texas Tech assistant from 2000-06. “And then I think at some point there’s been an adjustment that’s happened since then.” The Big 12 will begin its 27th season this week with some uncertainty…

The Big 12 has announced it is beginning conversations on new media contracts with Fox and ESPN, making the move to begin those discussions a full year-and-a-half ahead of the expiration of their current contracts. ESPN’s Pete Thamel was first to report the development, confirmed by the Big 12 office. “It is an exciting time for college athletics and given the changing landscape we welcome the opportunity to engage with our partners to determine if an early extension is in the best interest of all parties,” said Big 12 Commissioner Brett Yormark in a statement issued by the conference Wednesday…
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) — The Kansas City Chiefs wanted to get younger around quarterback Patrick Mahomes and the rest of their veteran core. They couldn’t have done it much better through the draft. The Chiefs selected 10 players in April, their most in 14 years, and all but one made the final cutdown Tuesday for teams to reach the 53-man limit for the regular season. Some of them, such as first-rounders Trent McDuffie and George Karlaftis, were locks from the moment their names were read while others played their way onto a perennial Super Bowl contender. That includes two…

MIAMI GARDENS, Fla. (AP) — A years-long rebuild has led the Miami Dolphins to a point of excitement with their 2022 prospects. That wasn’t the case here for a while, but we felt we’ve been building it…

Riley County Public Information Officer Vivienne Uccello proposed an update to the employee social media policy at Monday’s Commissioner meeting. It mainly applies to the deletion of public comments on county-run sites. Uccello explains what will be deleted: She said while private companies can delete any comment they want to; the county rarely deletes comments because it is a 1st amendment right to criticize the government. Staff will flag suspicious comments, and a supervisor will review it. The policy applies to all departments. The commissioners unanimously approved the update. Health Department Director Julie Gibbs told the commissioners about a suicide-prevention grant she…
