A 54-year-old cyclist was seriously injured Sunday afternoon after being struck by a vehicle on K-113 near Top of the World Drive, according to the Kansas Highway Patrol. The crash occurred at approximately 12:59 p.m. when a 2025 Chevrolet Trax, driven by 19-year-old William J. Bartunek of Lincoln, Nebraska, veered onto the shoulder and struck the cyclist, identified as Eugene Thomas Rice of Manhattan, Kansas. The couple were shot to death in Harkness’ home in Topeka, in the early morning hours of July 7, 2002. The third trial for Sisco and Harkness’ deaths was held in Pottawatomie county over the past month, and now comes to a close. An early Thursday morning accident in Geary County resulted in a Junction City man driving into Milford Lake. According to Kansas Highway Patrol reports, 32-year-old Paul Pacholski was westbound in his 2019 Jeep Compass on Farnum Creek Road from US 77 highway and struck a pole and a delineator post before driving off the roadway and into the lake.
