Two people were transported to the hospital Tuesday morning following a two-vehicle crash in Manhattan, according to the Riley County Police Department. Officers responded at approximately 11:23 a.m. March 10 to the 400 block of East Highway 24 for a reported injury accident. Upon arrival, officers determined that a 2023 Hyundai Tucson driven by Dennis Ortbals, 74, of Manhattan, had collided with a 2024 Nissan Sentra driven by Aubrey Heier-Gonzalez, 17, of Manhattan. Two Manhattan residents were arrested Tuesday following the execution of a search warrant that led to numerous drug-related charges, according to the Riley County Police Department. Officers executed the search warrant at approximately 2:07 p.m. March 10 in the 1700 block of Winne Drive. As a result of the investigation, officers filed reports that included three counts of possession of opiate, opium, narcotic or certain stimulant and additional charges related to the distribution of fentanyl and other controlled substances. Officers responded to a report of an injury accident at approximately 10:38 p.m. on March 10, 2026 in the 17000 block of Tuttle Creek Blvd. Upon arrival, officers found a 2015 Chevy Impala driven by Alexis Trimble, 24, of Marysville, had hit two guardrails in a single-vehicle accident. Police are investigating after a woman reported someone damaged her vehicle. A report for criminal damage to property was filed shortly before 3 p.m. Monday in the 300 block of Brookvalley Drive. A 75-year-old woman told Riley County Police that an unknown suspect threw rocks at her vehicle, resulting in damage to her windshield, another window and the driver’s side door. The damage estimate is approximately $1,000. Anyone with information is asked to contact the Riley County Police Department or Manhattan Riley County Crime Stoppers.

One person was injured Monday in a crash near the intersection of Casement Road and Hayes Drive. Riley County Police say shortly before 4:30 p.m. a pickup driven by 19-year-old Lily Dorio, of Manhattan struck an SUV driven by 30-year-old Kaleigh Evans, of Junction City. Evans was transported to Via Christi for treatment of undisclosed injuries. Dorio was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign.

No injuries were reported after a structure fire at a Junction City apartment complex Sunday evening. The Junction City Fire department was dispatched just before 6 p.m. Sunday, to 1537 W. Ash Street, the West Ridge Apartments. Upon arrival, crews observed heavy smoke and visible flames coming from the rear of the building. Crews were able to isolate it to the third floor attic space and brought it under control shortly after 6 p.m. No serious injuries were reported, however 13 occupants were displaced.
