A single-vehicle accident in Geary County Sunday sent a Fort Riley woman to the hospital. According to the Geary County Sheriff’s department, depuites responded to a report of an accident in the 75 hundred block of Old Highway 77 at 4:45 Sunday afternoon. According to reports, Katrena Bowers of Fort Riley was eastbound in her 2024 Jeep Grand Cherokee when the vehicle ran off the road way to the north due to icy road conditions and rolled onto it’s side. Bowers was transported to Irwin Hospital for evaluation with undisclosed injuries.

By Tim Everson A short-handed Kansas State women’s team couldn’t keep pace with rival Kansas in Lawrence on Sunday. The Wildcats fell 83-61 in a game that was only close through the first quarter, and ended as K-State’s worst loss to its rival in over 30 years. Manhattan High girls’ basketball navigated winter weather and a hot-shooting opponent to earn a 54–45 road win at Blue Valley-Stilwell on Friday, continuing its strong start to Centennial League play. The game was moved up earlier in the day as a winter storm swept across Kansas, but Manhattan showed little effect from the disruption. A Manhattan man was arrested Friday afternoon in connection with a rape reported Thursday night. Riley County Police say officers filed the report around 11:19 a.m. Jan. 23. A 54-year-old woman was listed as the victim, and a 24-year-old man known to her was identified as the suspect. Police arrested Griffin Day, 24, of Manhattan, at approximately 3:15 p.m. on a charge of rape. Day was issued a total bond of $200,000 and remains confined in the Riley County Jail at the time of the release. Nathan Roth, 26, of Leonardville, was arrested on a Dickenson County District Court warrant for probation violation at approximately 5:23 p.m. on Jan. 23, 2026 in 1000 block of Lavista Road. Jerome Tang’s streak of beating Kansas at Bramlage Coliseum came to an end Saturday as Kansas State men’s basketball fell 86-62 to No. 19 Kansas in the Sunflower Showdown.
