The Wamego boys won a thriller 57-55 last Friday in overtime over their rival Rock Creek. Senior Marcquiece Cade hit the game winning lay up for the Red Raiders with one second left in the game. Cade had a double-double with 12 points and 14 rebounds. He was on fire from the free throw line with an 8 for 11 effort at the stripe. Cade also helped the Red Raiders knock off Council Grove 67-37 on Monday to pick up their sixth win of the season. (AP) — The Royals could have paid versatile second baseman Whit Merrifield relatively little this year, then given him a series of one-year contracts accompanied by increasing pressure each season. Instead, they chose to reward him for both his perseverance and play. Kansas State used a lockdown defensive effort against Oklahoma State on Wednesday night to secure a 59-48 win at Bramlage Coliseum. K-State has now won three straight Big 12 games, the longest regular season league winning streak for the Wildcats since the 2016-17 season. From K-State Athletics Kansas State head coach Chris Klieman completed his inaugural coaching staff in Manhattan on Tuesday with the hiring of Scottie Hazelton as defensive coordinator and linebackers coach. Hazelton comes to Manhattan after a successful two-year run as the defensive coordinator and linebackers coach at Wyoming.
