From K-State Athletics K-State sophomore Terrence Spurlin was named Big 12 Player of the Week while junior Chris Ceballos was tabbed Big 12 Newcomer of the Week, the conference office announced Monday. Spurlin, a 6-foot-1 first baseman from Cypress, Texas, produced back-to-back three-hit games in the Wildcats’ three-game series with West Virginia over the weekend. Manhattan High tennis won their regional and qualified all six players for the 6A state tournament last week. Dan Harkin won his second straight singles regional title. That capped off a week that also saw Harkin win the Centennial League title and earn Centennial League player of the year honors. This season Harkin has an overall record of 26-1 heading into the state tournament. Harkin finished 4th last year at state – the highest finish for an Indian since 1992.
