Currently the host of "KMAN's Morning News", Troy is a 30 year veteran of radio, nearly 20 in northern Colorado, where he served as the "Voice of the UNC Bears" while serving as the news and sports director for one of the oldest AM stations in the country. No stranger to Manhattan nor Kansas, Troy is an alum of K-State in broadcast journalism and grew up near Circleville. He began his broadcast career with KSDB-FM on campus while working part time at another radio station in town. He's married to the former Monica Haugsness of Seneca, who has patiently put up with his schedule for more than 25 years.

The Manhattan High girls basketball team has been installed as the eighth seed for this coming week’s 6A State Tournament in Wichita, setting them up for a tilt against Shawnee Mission South. The Tribe advanced to the field of eight at Koch Arena behind a 45-39 win at Liberal Friday night. Maxine Doering scored 15 points, Delaney Larson 14 as the Manhattan High girls basketball team advanced to the 6A State Tournament Friday night with a 45-39 win at Liberal. Kat Ball hit seven of eight free throws in the final quarter to hold Liberal’s comeback attempt at bay as the Indians move into the field of eight after their 12th win of the season. Three Manhattan High wrestlers captured 6A State Titles Saturday, while the Indians won the 6A Boys’ team crown after having nine wrestlers medal. Ezekiel Witt (Boys’ 113) and Sage Rosario (Girls’ 155) capped unbeaten seasons with wins Saturday afternoon. Witt pinned Gabe Sherrell of Olathe Northwest to finish a 43-0 season, needing just 2:36 of his championship match for the fall. Rosario ended the season for all of Manhattan’s wrestlers in winning her match by fall over Veronica Madrid of Derby at 2:55. The win was her 28th of the season. Six Manhattan High wrestlers advanced to the semifinals at the 6A Boys’ State Tournament on Thursday, with all 13 wrestlers having won at least one match on opening day. A Manhattan man was briefly taken into custody Monday after turning himself in to Riley County Police on an outstanding warrant from sex crimes with an underage girl. 18 year old Tyler Staatz has been charged with rape, aggravated indecent liberties with a child, intercourse with a child between 14 and 16 years in age, indecent liberties with a child between the ages of 14 and 16 and two counts of lewd fondling. Staatz was released after posting $75,000 bond.

A day after qualifying all 13 wrestlers for next weekend’s 6A State Tournament in Wichita, two Manhattan wrestlers won titles to cap regional action, while three others placed second for the weekend.
