Currently the host of "KMAN's Morning News", Troy is a 30 year veteran of radio, nearly 20 in northern Colorado, where he served as the "Voice of the UNC Bears" while serving as the news and sports director for one of the oldest AM stations in the country. No stranger to Manhattan nor Kansas, Troy is an alum of K-State in broadcast journalism and grew up near Circleville. He began his broadcast career with KSDB-FM on campus while working part time at another radio station in town. He's married to the former Monica Haugsness of Seneca, who has patiently put up with his schedule for more than 25 years.

Wamego’s wrestlers took fifth as a team, Rock Creek’s 12th at the annual Baldwin Boys Invitational Saturday. Knox Karnowski of the Red Raiders claimed the title at 138, the only individual title claimed on the day by a local wrestler. The latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association polls showed little movement for area teams through the first week of mid-season tournaments. That includes the Wamego girls remaining at number two in Class 4A while Frankfort checks in at number four in 1A-D1 Wamego is 9-1 after finishing third at the Tonganoxie Tournament last weekend. Frankfort rallied to win twice in the Twin Valley League tournament after suffering a first round loss to Hanover. The Wildcats are 9-2. Valley Heights is ranked 10th in 2A with an 8-3 mark. Making just their fourth appearance in the Dodge City Tournament of Champions title game, the Manhattan High boys basketball team Saturday fell to the top ranked team in 6A, Wichita Heights, 65-44. The Falcons blitzed the Indians with an 18-0 run that bridged the end of the first quarter and the start of the second to build to a 20 point halftime lead. Jason Kim led three players in double figures and the Manhattan High boys basketball team hit all but four of 30 free throws attempted in Friday’s 66-58 semifinal win over Wichita East at the Tournament of Champions in Dodge City. Kim scored 17, Ian McNabb 14 and Thursday’s hero, Landon Knopp, added 12 as the Indians won their seventh straight. After suffering their first conference loss by a single point Saturday on the road, the K-State men are back in Manhattan to face ninth-ranked Baylor. The matchup is the only one this season between the squads because of the unbalanced schedule and marks another meeting between Scott Drew on the Baylor bench and his former long-time assistant Jerome Tang coaching the Wildcats. Former Kansas State quarterback Will Howard has announced his intention to transfer to Ohio State on social media. Howard has one season of eligibility remaining after he went 12-5 as a starter for the Wildcats, leading them past TCU in the 2022 Big 12 title game and helping them reach the Pop-Tarts Bowl this past season. Kansas State’s Chris Klieman appears to be on the cusp of hiring a former Big 12 head coach to become an assistant on his staff. K-State Online was first to report yesterday that former Texas Tech head coach Matt Wells is nearing a deal to become the quarterbacks coach for the Wildcats, a deal that would include him sharing the offensive coordinator title with offensive line coach Connor Riley.
