Currently the host of "KMAN's Morning News", Troy is a 30 year veteran of radio, nearly 20 in northern Colorado, where he served as the "Voice of the UNC Bears" while serving as the news and sports director for one of the oldest AM stations in the country. No stranger to Manhattan nor Kansas, Troy is an alum of K-State in broadcast journalism and grew up near Circleville. He began his broadcast career with KSDB-FM on campus while working part time at another radio station in town. He's married to the former Monica Haugsness of Seneca, who has patiently put up with his schedule for more than 25 years.

A Manhattan man was briefly taken into custody Monday after turning himself in to Riley County Police on an outstanding warrant from sex crimes with an underage girl. 18 year old Tyler Staatz has been charged with rape, aggravated indecent liberties with a child, intercourse with a child between 14 and 16 years in age, indecent liberties with a child between the ages of 14 and 16 and two counts of lewd fondling. Staatz was released after posting $75,000 bond.

A day after qualifying all 13 wrestlers for next weekend’s 6A State Tournament in Wichita, two Manhattan wrestlers won titles to cap regional action, while three others placed second for the weekend. Indians coach Shawn Bammes said Saturday was the day to push for points to challenge for a regional title after getting everyone into state with their Friday wrestling. The Manhattan High boys and girls both suffered close losses at home to Washburn Rural, the boys game going overtime before Kaden Ballard scored eight in the extra period to lead the Junior Blues to a 70-65 win over Benji George’s Tribe squad. The latest Kansas Basketball Coaches Association polls showed little movement for area teams through the first week of mid-season tournaments. Jason Kim led three players in double figures and the Manhattan High boys basketball team hit all but four of 30 free throws attempted in Friday’s 66-58 semifinal win over Wichita East at the Tournament of Champions in Dodge City.
