A six-run fifth inning finally lifted the weight off the K-State baseball team’s collective shoulders en route to a 9-4 victory over St. Mary’s on Friday afternoon at Louis Guisto Field in Moraga, CA. The Cats earned their first win with six hits in the inning that busted open a one-run ballgame, including an RBI double by Clayton Dalrymple.
Sophomore catcher Alex Bee led the Cats with three hits in the game, and also had an RBI and a run scored. The Cats also had multi-hit efforts by Tanner DeVinny, Austin Fisher and R.J. Santigate. DeVinny and Dalrymple each had two RBI.
Senior left hander Jared Moore (1-1) earned the win on the mound for K-State, giving up one earned run on four hits with three strikeouts and three walks. Thomas Cortese (0-1) took the loss for St. Mary’s, surrendering three runs on three hits and six walks, striking out one.
