CLEVELAND (AP) Jason Kipnis and Michael Brantley hit two-run homers, powering the Cleveland Indians over the Kansas City Royals 4-3 Monday night.
Kipnis connected in the sixth inning off Jeremy Guthrie, overcoming a 3-2 deficit. Brantley provided Cleveland a 2-0 lead in the fourth.
Alex Gordon and Omar Infante each had two of the Royals’ six hits. Infante gave Kansas City a 3-2 lead in the 5th with an RBI single.
Game 2 of the four game series between the Royals and Indians is at 6:05pm on Tuesday night in Cleveland.
