With the state’s 150th year of existence in effect, many throughout the state are finding ways to celebrate its history including in the Manhattan area.
The Riley County Historical Society continues their Kansas 150 Look Back Lecture Series with a presentation called, “The Better Angels of Our Nature: Freemasonry in the American Civil War.
“Michael Halleran, historian, author, and attorney, will discuss his book the same title and explore the role of freemasonry in this period using first-hand documents from both sides of this defining American conflict.” Riley County Historial Museum Director Cheryl Collins says.
The presentation is free to the public on Thursday at 7 p.m. at the Manhattan Public Library.
