The Pottawatomie County Sheriff’s Department has announced a missing person report for a St. George woman. Family members indicate Jane Peterson, 56, has been missing for more than 24 hours, with a report filed Sunday morning with the sheriff’s department.

Recent reports indicate that Peterson left her 1999 Toyota Tacoma by the beach area in Tuttle Cove.

The Pottawatomie Sheriff’s Department reportedly began a search effort and used dogs to scout the area. The Riley County Police Department also joined the effort and used a helicopter for an aerial view.

According to Public Information Officer, Matthew Droge, Peterson is not a suspect of any crime, but rather a person in need of assistance. He reassured KMAN that the public is in no danger.

The search effort will resume first thing Tuesday morning.

Pott County Sheriff, Greg Riat asks anyone with information to call his office at 457-3353, or local law enforcement, if Peterson is seen in another jurisdiction.
