Son beats father in renewed rivalry

By Mitch Fortner on January 16, 2020 Manhattan High School, Sports

Report from Dave Donnert

What a dual that took place between Manhattan and Junction City in Junction City. This was the father vs. son coaching matchup we all looked forward to. It did was a barn burner and the only thing that spoiled it for Manhattan was a one point loss 35-36.

Manhattan’s Robert Gonzales and Junction City’s head coach and Robert’s son Tyler Gonzales were all business prior to the dual. Wife and mother Brenda Gonzales was a ball of nerves and just torn but in the end she knew a Gonzales would win.
