Woman Rescued From Kansas River Bank


Wamego and Pottawatomie county authorities were called to the Kansas River bank near First and Walnut in Wamego at 5:00 Friday morning to a report of someone sliding down the river bank.

An adult female was found to have slipped, and the Wamego Fire Department performed a rescue technique with a basket, to bring the woman back up. She reportedly had a possible broken arm, lacerations, and bruises. She was transported to an unknown medical facility for treatment. Her name and age are not yet available.

In addition to Wamego fire, Pottawatomie county EMS and sheriff’s department responded. Wamego police were on another call at the time.
