The Kansas City Royals got a huge night from Lorenzo Cain on Tuesday with three home runs and five RBI’s against the Yankees however it was New York that got the 10-7 victory.
Cain hit a solo shot in the third, a three run homer in the fifth and another solo shot in the eighth to tie the game at 7-7.
Royals SS Alcides Escobar had a grounder bounce off his glove for an error with one out in the bottom half of the eighth and the Yankees took advantage.
Brett Gardner followed driving home the tiebreaking run with a double off Kelvin Herrera. Starlin Castro was hit by a pitch and then Brian McCann put the game away with a two run double.
Kansas City has dropped 11 of their last 14 games and are now 15-17 overall. Yordano Ventura starts Wednesday night for the Royals as they play game three in New York.
